Food is a major facet of The Battleaxes. However, please don't imagine us to be a gastro pub. By this we simply wish to emphasis that we are not a restaurant masquerading as a pub where the intended use of every table is for dining, with the exception of an 'en suite' bar near the front door, and where you have to spend at least £30 a head or be squashed into a corner should, heaven forbid, you just want a pint of beer. Our approach to dining is simple and informal; you can turn up and grab a table or if you prefer you can call and reserve one, if you have a favourite table we'll do our best to get if for you. It is always advisable to book on busy days such as Friday night, Saturday night and Sunday lunch. We offer table service throughout so once seated you can relax and enjoy your time with us.
Here at The Battleaxes we serve food that panders to the needs of both the pub traditionalist and modern day foodie. All of our dishes are produced on the premises by proper chefs and the menus are designed to satisfy the smallest to largest of appetites.
Food at The Battleaxes is served everyday from mid morning to last thing at night. From 10am 'til Noon we serve a comprehensive breakfast/brunch menu including an inventive vegetarian twist on the Full English.
From Noon 'til 10pm we serve the main menu with its mix of pub 'classics', comfort food and grazing.
