Here at The Battleaxes we're big into our real ales. Taking pride of place on the bar are our fleet of shiny hand pumps which busily draw through real ales that are interesting and always local. Like any good freehouse we make the best of being able to serve what we like and make no excuses for only serving beers from Wiltshire, Somerset, Bristol, & (very occasionally) Devon & for championing the smaller breweries, not least because their beers are bloody marvellous.
We have a house ale 'Flatcapper' which is brewed for us by the excellent Three Castles Brewery in Pewsey. In addition we normally carry at least 1 other beer from Three Castles, along with beers from other breweries such as: -
Stonehenge (Somerset)
Stonehenge (Somerset)
Plain Ales (Wiltshire)
Cheddar Ales (Somerset)
Yeovil Ales (Somerset)
Butcombe (Somerset)
Arbor (Bristol)
Box Steam (Wiltshire)
Wessex (Wiltshire)
Ramsbury (Wiltshire)
Keystone (Wiltshire)
Milk Street (Somerset)
Otter (Devon)
Exmoor (Somerset)
Bath Ales (Somerset)
Abbey Ales (Somerset)
We also have a couple of Continental lagers and Weston's & Orchard Pig ciders on tap.
If ale is not your thing do not despair. We also have a very extensive wine list with good representation from both the New World & our European neighbours.
We also have an extensive selection of Malts, Cognacs, and Armagnacs. Again, like the ales, our selection is quite different to what you would find in most pubs.
On the non-alcoholic side we have a wide selection of interesting soft drinks, proper coffees, and teas.
